Fruit Trees and Vegetable Plants Around Our Home

16 Jan

The real estate property where our home now lies abounds with various plants and trees when we bought it.  Sad to say, we uprooted a number of them before house construction began.  There were still a lot left though since the property area was 192sqm and our home’s floor area is only 45.5sqm, parking area is 21sqm and facade is 12sqm.  The vacant lot between our house and that of my brother’s is also teeming with plants and trees.  Here they are:

Sayote – we use these for soups, buttered vegetables, pancit and tinola

Tamarind – has not bore any fruit yet

Sayote vines & fruits growing over the Tamarind

Papaya – we use these for tinola.  My mother also uses them to make atsara.

Kamias – my father dries these under the sun and we use them for sinaing na isda

Saging na Saba – boiled, minatamis, and turon

Chili – spices up kaldareta and condiments

Kalamismis – we use these for bulanglang

Malunggay – we use these for tinola, bulanglang, munggo, and sinigang na isda

Talbos ng Kamote – we use these for bulanglang, munggo, and sinigang na isda

Rambutan – has bore only a handful of fruits last year
