Let’s Make a Vision Board!

27 Jan

A vision board or a dream board is a visual representation of one’s dreams and goals.  Its purpose is to remind you daily of your aspirations and what you want your life to be.  You have to put it in a place or places that you often look at.  You can put it on your bedroom wall, on your door, on your bathroom mirror, above the kitchen sink, on your refrigerator or on your desk.  The idea is that when you surround yourself with images of what you want to be, what you want to have, or what you want to do, your life changes to match those images and those desires.

I made one using a free web-based application or visualization tool called O Dream Board from Oprah.com.  I printed a few copies of it and also set it as my desktop background to serve as a daily reminder of my current dreams and goals.

To create your own vision board using O Dream Board, go to http://www.oprah.com/spirit/O-Dream-Board-Envision-Your-Best-LifeTM.

With O Dream Board you can:

  •     Upload photos from your computer
  •     Choose from our photo library featuring images by our partner Getty Images
  •     Write inspirational quotes, words and actions
  •     Change your O Dream Board as you change
  •     Keep track of your life’s journey with an archive of your past O Dream Boards
  •     Save image jpgs to your desktop
  •     Share your O Dream Board with your family and friends

Note: If you’re already a member of Oprah.com, you’ll be asked to login to get started. If you’re not a member of Oprah.com yet, you’ll be asked to join.

You can also make one using an illustration board, old magazines, a pair of scissors and glue.  If you don’t know what to put on your vision board because you haven’t figured out exactly what you want yet, you can create what Christine Kane calls an “Opening and Allowing” vision board.  She wrote about it on her blog post How to Make a Vision Board (check it here http://christinekane.com/how-to-make-a-vision-board/).

Thanks Lai for this! Tamang tama kasi project ko talagang guamawa nito. I attended a webinar regarding vision boards & affirmations last week and I’ve been meaning to create one for myself. Mahirap nga naman kung ang vision mo nasa utak mo lang. It has a tendency to get blurred and with the thousand other things we do everyday, we even forget them. Will check that Oprah site later today. And when I’m done, maybe I’ll blog about it, too. =)
