To My Sister Kilometers Away

26 Mar

Yesterday, we came over to my younger sister’s home in Batangas City.  It is over 20 kilometers away from Lipa City, where we live.

We went there to get the dining table that we bought from her.  She took it from the apartment she used to share with her friends in Makati City, where she works.

She left the apartment and has been commuting by bus to and from work since September of last year.  That’s a long travel.  About 1 1/2 hours each way.  Three hours a day everyday, can you imagine?

But she does it anyway.  She does it because she’s a mom.  She wants to go home to see her daughter everyday.

She and her husband have a nanny to take care of my niece when they’re at work.  But in the evenings and during weekends, it’s just the three of them.

My sister and my brother-in-law take care of their daughter themselves and handles the housework, too.

Ah, my sister’s all grown-up.
